Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is a disease caused by virus that is spread by mosquitoes.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors.

This fever is caused by four different relative viruses which is spread though mosquitos. Most commonly it has found the mosquito Aedes aegyti. This includes parts of :
·        Indonesian archipelago into northeastern Australia
·        South and Central America
·        Southeast Asia
·        Sub-Saharan Africa
·        Some parts of the Caribbean

Symptoms

·        A sudden high fever,
·        A flat, red rash may appear over most of the body 2 - 5 days after the fever starts.
·        Infected people may have increased skin sensitivity and are very uncomfortable.
·        Fatigue
·        Headache (especially behind the eyes)
·        Joint aches
·        Muscle aches
·        Nausea
·        Swollen lymph nodes
·        Vomiting

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for dengue fever. You will need fluids if there are signs of dehydration. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is used to treat a high fever. Avoid taking aspirin.

Please note this, Dengue fever is not incurable. But if you are not taking care of Dengue fever after the infection you will be able to die by severe dehydration.

Yoga Lesson Three

Tadasana (Star Posture)

Step 01:

Stand like “Dakshasana” and make some distance between your feet for more comfortable. Now lightly interlock the fingers of one hand with those of the other hand. Raise your arms slowly upwards like this Picture.

If you can easily do this keeping your balance, turn your face upward and look at the fingers and try to raise the heels again-initially, a little off the floor and later with the gradual practice, all the way up to stand on the toes. After few second holding this posture, slowly lower the heels first and release from the posture slower. Relax.

Step 02:

Raise your interlock arms like step 01 but without raising your heels and turning the face. Now start to bend your body at the waist to a side (right or left) slowly keeping your knees straight.

Give your attention to both sides of the body and the rib cage with breathing softly and comfortably. Feel the contraction of the muscles on the side of your body to which you are bending, and feel the stretch on the other side.

Do this same to other side after holding few seconds in starting position.

Step 04:

Again raise your arms as done before, and slowly very slowly try to arch your body and head backwards as your ability. Your knees should be straight and slightly flexed in this step. And bending even a few millimeters is initially enough.

If you find difficulties to bending backwards like this, try this method. Keep your both hands on your hip with the elbow pointing backward and try to bend with the additional support of your hands. This way you will not have much pressure on the spine.
If you find hard to do those methods, leave step 4 temporarily.

Take maximum care when bending backwards in any yoga postures, especially if your suffer from backpain.

Yoga Lesson Two

Tarasana

Ancient people thought our body has designed the shape of a star. So they named this posture “Tarasana”, the meaning is Star Posture. We can practice this posture doing three steps.

Step 01:

Stand comfortably and straightly like first posture that we have mentioned before in “Dakshasana” and relax. Now raise your both arms forward and hold them parallel to each other and the floor in line with the shoulders slowly and softly. Keep your palms facing each other and keep open your fingers without forcing.
Now try to relax your mind and body while holding the posture for few seconds. But remember don’t try to keep it painfully.

Step 02:

Now move your arms to the sides turning your palms facing to the floor softly and slowly. Your hands are now in line with the shoulders and parallel with the floor. Hold the posture while relaxing your body-mind.

Step 03:

After relaxing few seconds bring your both arms upward facing your palms each other and keep them parallel to each other. If you find hard to raise your arms all way up due to the stiffness of your body, keep them holding easy level with your capacity, without causing discomfort.

After relaxing few seconds, now start to release yourself from the posture by gently bringing your arms. And remember, you are free to do this as you wish slowly and comfortably. After releasing the posture, relax your body-mind further and feel happiness for few seconds.

Remember:

  • Do not hold your breath but always breathe.
  • Try to coordinate your breathing, concentration, and movements.
  • Always try not to exert jerks in your movements.
  • Try to be undisturbed and not to notice what is happening around.

Hobby

I am not going to explain you what is “Hobby" because you have already know it. But I know one thing that you don’t know how much a hobby worth for our healthy life.
In present, we are so busy with our work, we are now commercialized humans. So we don’t have much time for meals and rest too. We are like a machine. That’s why majority of world are having mental diseases like depression, stress, etc.
So I like to give you a fine idea to prevent from those upsets.

Just do a hobby

But remember it should be most relaxes and most simple things for your mind. I will give you a better Idea….

Do you know my hobbies?

It is, Studying human behavior.

It is so funny and we can understand others thoughts also. Then we can make partners and we can understand our partners easily. It is very better for your safety too.
Think different.

I like to think different.

When my boss insulting me for my delay. I am not ever getting angry with him. I said, wow boss you have big mouth and he be silence. But when my boss in serious situation I am not going to say so. I say him with a smile. “Oh it’s just a simple matter, we can solve it.” or I leave him after smiling at him. Always think Bad is good and There is nothing called Bad.

Funny at others

This makes you so popular among your friends. First thing your appearance must not be serious, and you should be simple and complete with your dress too. If you have abilities to make them surprise like magic, do it eventually. But don’t be an idiot at them.

If you can’t do those hobbies. No matter, you can do anything like, watching comic movies, reading funny stories, feeding fish, or anything. But remember, it is better that your hobby is simple one.

Healing Power

Think about this, if you have got a wound on your own leg, after few days it would recovery completely if not infecting. And you already know, there is a military base inside of our body fighting against with bacteria, virus and toxins. We  called it Human's Immune Systems and we have talk about it before.

But now I am going to tell you different system of healing our body. It is unique and invisible. it is still sleeping inside our body. Some nations call it different names, such as Chinese says "Qi", Japanese says "Ki" and Indians (or Asians) says "Parana".

For our further describe, I hope to use "Qi".

Qi is located inside of two inches below the naval, in Chinese language they called it "Tantian" or "Dantian" point. It is an invisible meridian, which can generate or store powers. Sometimes we can explain Qi like this, Qi is the electricity that can make our body live and healthy. If our Qi flowing weaks, we may be sick. Qi is flowing all over the body through every organ and every cells too. If we can understand about flowing of Qi or control it, I think we can live long without a hazardous.

There are few ways to have Qi.

  • Foods
  • Breathing
  • Physical exercises (or physical relaxations)
  • Meditation (or mind relaxation)

In ancient arts of controlling physical and mind balances, have been created to control the Qi. As examples we can see Yoga, Qi gong, Reiki and some kind of meditations. The history of those arts say, there was some people having ability to do amazing stuffs like mind reading, pre-caution. But my intention is that the practising yoga or some other things is help us to improve our logical thinking and open our mind to think widely. Then they can pre-caution or guess some one's thinking after logically analyze, but that process was not taking many times, just a second or few.

The best thing to increase your healing power is practicing some kind of art and change your lifestyle as suitable for the art.

Colon cancer

Colon, or colorectal, cancer is cancer that starts in the large intestine (colon) or the rectum (end of the colon).
Other types of cancer can affect the colon, such as lymphoma, carcinoid tumors, melanoma, and sarcomas. These are rare. In this article, use of the term "colon cancer" refers to colon carcinoma only.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the United States. However, early diagnosis can often lead to a complete cure.

Almost all colon cancer starts in glands in the lining of the colon and rectum. When doctors talk about colorectal cancer, this is usually what they are talking about.
There is no single cause of colon cancer. Nearly all colon cancers begin as noncancerous (benign) polyps, which slowly develop into cancer.

You have a higher risk for colon cancer if you:

  • Are older than 60
  • Are African American of eastern European descent
  • Eat a diet high in red or processed meats
  • Have cancer elsewhere in the body
  • Have colorectal polyps
  • Have inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
  • Have a family history of colon cancer
  • Have a personal history of breast cancer

Certain genetic syndromes also increase the risk of developing colon cancer. Two of the most common are:

  • Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP)
  • Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), also known as Lynch syndrome

What you eat may play a role in your risk of colon cancer. Colon cancer may be associated with a high-fat, low-fiber diet and red meat. However, some studies have found that the risk does not drop if you switch to a high-fiber diet, so this link is not yet clear.

Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol are other risk factors for colorectal cancer.

Symptoms
  •
  • Many cases of colon cancer have no symptoms. The following symptoms, however, may indicate colon cancer:
  • Abdominal pain and tenderness in the lower abdomen
  • Blood in the stool
  • Diarrhea, constipation, or other change in bowel habits
  • Narrow stools
  • Weight loss with no known reason

Signs and tests

With proper screening, colon cancer can be detected before symptoms develop, when it is most curable.

Your doctor will perform a physical exam and press on your belly area. The physical exam rarely shows any problems, although the doctor may feel a lump (mass) in the abdomen. A rectal exam may reveal a mass in patients with rectal cancer, but not colon cancer.

A fecal occult blood test (FOBT) may detect small amounts of blood in the stool, which could suggest colon cancer. However, this test is often negative in patients with colon cancer. For this reason, a FOBT must be done along with colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy. It is also important to note that a positive FOBT doesn't necessarily mean you have cancer.

Imaging tests to screen for and potentially diagnose colorectal cancer include:
  • Colonoscopy
  • Sigmoidoscopy

Note: Only colonoscopy can see the entire colon, and this is the best screening test for colon cancer.

  • Blood tests that may be done include:
  • Complete blood count (CBC) to check for anemia

Liver function tests

If your doctor learns that you do have colorectal cancer, more tests will be done to see if the cancer has spread. This is called staging. CT or MRI scans of the abdomen, pelvic area, chest, or brain may be used to stage the cancer. Sometimes, PET scans are also used.
Stages of colon cancer are:

  • Stage 0: Very early cancer on the innermost layer of the intestine
  • Stage I: Cancer is in the inner layers of the colon
  • Stage II: Cancer has spread through the muscle wall of the colon
  • Stage III: Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes
  • Stage IV: Cancer has spread to other organs

Blood tests to detect tumor markers, including carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and CA 19-9, may help your physician follow you during and after treatment.

Treatment

Treatment depends on many things, including the stage of the cancer. In general, treatments may include:

  • Surgery (most often a colectomy) to remove cancer cells
  • Chemotherapy to kill cancer cells
  • Radiation therapy to destroy cancerous tissue

SURGERY

Stage 0 colon cancer may be treated by removing the cancer cells, often during a colonoscopy. For stages I, II, and III cancer, more extensive surgery is needed to remove the part of the colon that is cancerous. (See: Colon resection)

CHEMOTHERAPY

Almost all patients with stage III colon cancer should receive chemotherapy after surgery for approximately 6 - 8 months. This is called adjuvant chemotherapy. The chemotherapy drug 5-fluorouracil has been shown to increase the chance of a cure in certain patients.

Chemotherapy is also used to improve symptoms and prolong survival in patients with stage IV colon cancer.

  • Irinotecan, oxaliplatin, capecitabine, and 5-fluorouracil are the three most commonly used drugs.
  • Monoclonal antibodies, including cetuximab (Erbitux), panitumumab (Vectibix), bevacizumab (Avastin), and other drugs have been used alone or in combination with chemotherapy.

You may receive just one type, or a combination of these drugs. There is some debate as to whether patients with stage II colon cancer should receive chemotherapy after surgery. You should discuss this with your oncologist.

RADIATION

Although radiation therapy is occasionally used in patients with colon cancer, it is usually used in combination with chemotherapy for patients with stage III rectal cancer.

For patients with stage IV disease that has spread to the liver, various treatments directed specifically at the liver can be used. This may include:

  • Burning the cancer (ablation)
  • Delivering chemotherapy or radiation directly into the liver
  • Freezing the cancer (cryotherapy)
  • Surgery

Lung cancer - small cell

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a fast-growing type of lung cancer. It spreads much more quickly than non-small cell lung cancer.
There are two different types of SCLC:
Small cell carcinoma (oat cell cancer)
Combined small cell carcinoma
Most SCLCs are of the oat cell type.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

About 15% of all lung cancer cases are SCLC. Small cell lung cancer is slightly more common in men than women.
Almost all cases of SCLC are due to cigarette smoking. SCLC is rare in people who have never smoked.
SCLC is the most aggressive form of lung cancer. It usually starts in the breathing tubes (bronchi) in the center of the chest. Although the cancer cells are small, they grow very quickly and create large tumors. These tumors often spread rapidly (metastasize) to other parts of the body, including the brain, liver, and bone.

Symptoms
  • Bloody sputum (phlegm)
  • Chest pain
  • Cough
  • Loss of appetite
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weight loss
  • Wheezing

Other symptoms that may occur with this disease:
  • Facial swelling
  • Fever
  • Hoarseness or changing voice
  • Swallowing difficulty
  • Weakness

Signs and tests

Your health care provider will perform a physical exam and ask questions about your medical history. You will be asked whether you smoke, and if so, how much and for how long you have smoked.

When listening to your chest with a stethoscope, your health care provider can sometimes hear fluid around the lungs or areas where the lung has partially collapsed. Each of these findings could (but does not always) suggest cancer.

SCLC has usually spread to other parts of your body by the time it is diagnosed.
Tests that may be performed include:

  • Bone scan
  • Chest x-ray
  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • CT scan
  • Liver function tests
  • MRI
  • Positron emission tomography (PET) scan
  • Sputum test (cytology, looking for cancer cells)
  • Thoracentesis (removal of fluid from the chest cavity around the lungs)

In most cases, your health care provider may need to remove a piece of tissue from your lungs or other areas to be examined under a microscope. This is called a biopsy.

There are several ways to do a biopsy:

  • Bronchoscopy combined with biopsy
  • CT scan-directed needle biopsy
  • Endoscopic esophageal ultrasound (EUS) with biopsy
  • Mediastinoscopy with biopsy
  • Open lung biopsy
  • Pleural biopsy
  • Video-assisted thoracoscopy

Usually if a biopsy shows cancer, more imaging tests are done to find out the stage of the cancer. (Stage means how big the tumor is and how far it has spread.) SCLC is classified as either:
  • Limited (cancer is only in the chest and can be treated with radiation therapy)
  • Extensive (cancer has spread outside the chest)

Treatment

Because SCLC spreads quickly throughout the body, treatment must include cancer-killing drugs (chemotherapy) taken by mouth or injected into the body. Usually, the chemotherapy drug etoposide (or sometimes irinotecan) is combined with either cisplatin or carboplatin.

Combination chemotherapy and radiation treatment is given to people with SCLC that has spread throughout the body. However, the treatment only helps relieve symptoms. It does not cure the disease.

Radiation therapy uses powerful x-rays or other forms of radiation to kill cancer cells. Radiation therapy can be used with chemotherapy if surgery is not possible.

Radiation may be used to:

  • Treat the cancer, along with chemotherapy, if surgery is not possible
  • Help relieve symptoms caused by the cancer, such as breathing problems and swelling
  • Help relieve cancer pain when the cancer has spread to the bones

Often, SCLC may have already spread to the brain, even when there are no symptoms or other signs of cancer in the brain. As a result, some patients with smaller cancers, or who had a good response in their first round of chemotherapy may receive radiation therapy to the brain. This method is called prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI).

Surgery helps very few patients with SCLC because the disease has often spread by the time it is diagnosed. Surgery may be done when there is only one tumor that has not spread. If surgery is done, chemotherapy or radiation therapy will still be needed.
